About Heart of David Ministries

The Beginnings

The initial thrust of Heart of David Ministries has been to Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands. Nathan first went to Vanuatu in 1994, working with Raynold Bori who leads Every Home for Christ Vanuatu. He has returned many times since then and has seen foundations laid and considerable fruit from the ministry. He has also gained valuable insights, understanding and experience as the Lord has opened doors for ministry and relationships with people and pastors. In Solomon Islands his main ministry has been speaking at regional Church and leaders conferences. In 2003 he went to Uganda at the invitation of Miracle Crusade Ministries. In Uganda he held revival meetings and taught on living beyond poverty and lack. He spoke at both open air crusades and in churches. There were many salvations, healings and deliverances.

Uganda Outreach

Heart of David Ministries aims to reach a generation of people by calling forth and equipping key people who will take their nation for Jesus.

The strategy

  • Ignite revival fire.
  • Release the prophetic cry on God's heart.
  • Teach how to move in the anointing and use the spiritual weapons that God has given us to get the job done.
  • Lay important foundations in areas such as relationships, family, fatherhood, intimacy, communication and mercy.

Missions Trips

Vanuatu has a population of 200,000 people living on 83 islands and speaking 115 languages, although Bislama, the local pidgin English is common throughout.

It became a fully democratic republic in 1980 after 130 years of European control.

The Ni Vanuatu are a friendly, generous, laid back people with a rich heritage reaching back over 3000 years. Today the nation is theoretically a Christian country after missionaries brought the gospel 150 years ago, but their Christianity is often ritualistic, a copy of the outward trappings of Western Christian religion and there are many cultural bondages. Even today there are strongholds of witchcraft and demonic oppression beyond the comprehension and belief of most westerners. In Vanuatu the spirit realm is regarded as reality and the demonic realm that they have tried to appease for centuries has kept them a slave of fear. With the coming of the Europeans, the fear didn't change, only the source of it.

Consequently, the preaching of a Western Gospel is largely ineffective and the present day missionary must come in a spirit of humility with sensitivity and insight into the moves of the Holy Spirit in order to break down age old bondages and release the potential in these people for a rich expression of God's work in their lives.

Life in Vanuatu is normally mundane, with no fast paced agenda and, due to this, the people have little understanding of projecting into the future, thinking, planning and preparing as we do. When the Holy Spirit comes to them He communicates to them often in visions and prophetic experiences and the results are often explosive.

Nathan has taught in two bible schools in Vanuatu and was impressed by the dedication of the trainees who struggle with poor conditions and constant language difficulties. When they graduate, they are often sent to a remote area where they frequently have to break through an extremely oppressive atmosphere with little or no support. He found them very appreciative of his help, particularly in the remote areas.

Solomons Children

Uganda 2003

Unemployment is high and there are many orphans. It is not uncommon for a complete stranger to walk up to you and ask for money. Parents often give you photos of their children and want your contact in the hopes that you may be able to give them the money to send their children to school.

The first week was spent doing a crusade at Mukono City which is east of Kampala. To get there involved travelling through Kampala city which has frequent traffic jams. The only discernable road rule is that traffic drives on the left hand side of the road, consequently driving is quite an adventure. You have to be pushy to get anywhere and make sure you honk at anything that gets in the way just so that they know you are there. The crusade meetings were open air with about 2000 people. Africans like everything very loud so that the people blocks away can hear. There were many healings, deliverances and salvations during this time. One night a witch doctor surrendered all the paraphernalia he used for practising witchcraft. It was burnt in front of the crowd, book of Acts style. Even although it was an open air crusade for salvation and healing I preached an Acts 2 type revival message. Many were drunk on the new wine.

The second week I preached at a large church, Entebbe Miracle Centre. Every night I preached two messages. The first on living beyond poverty and lack and the second on revival. One night I also preached on the Father's Love. The people were hungry and open and freely embraced the move of the spirit. They are use to healing and miracle services so this was the first time they had experienced an Acts 2 type outpouring. There were still people drunk on the new wine after most others had left to go home.

I was particularly moved as I watched God touch a young girl. This particular girl came to see me after the services. She was 9 years old. This is the letter she gave me on the last night, also included were two photographs of herself.

I talked with the pastor about Angel and told him that if I were to send any assistance I would send it to him and get him to pay the school fees and then only after he had checked that her situation was genuine. I have no reason to doubt her circumstance but money is oftentimes misappropriated.

Uganda is in a harvest season and there is much work that needs to be done in discipling this nation. I believe that it is a strategic nation in Africa and that God is wanting to establish a stronghold of righteousness there that in time will have an impact on many other African nations.

The doors are wide open to hold crusades that impact thousands of people. I was working with Bishop Charles - Bishop used in the more biblical sense. He has pioneered many churches throughout Uganda. I was pleased to see that crusades were done in places where local churches had been established. This way the harvest can be followed up and the fruit remain. They are dependant on outside help to fund crusades. I emphasised the fact that it is important for the church in Uganda to learn to fund the harvest in their nation so that they have ownership of the harvest. I spoke much about the laws of sowing and reaping. God also gave me a prophetic message for the nation. In many ways Uganda has been like the lame man in Acts 3, powerless to walk and reduced to begging. When Peter said to the lame man, "Silver and gold have I none but such as I have I give thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk," God performed a financial miracle. Beforehand this man was unable to work and earn an income. I emphasised that it is God who gives us the power to create wealth(Deuteronomy 8:18).

Some of the healings and miracles that took place at Mukono Outreach

It was hard for me to record the healings and miracles as the many who testified did so in Luganda. I obtained the following list by enquiring later.

  • Chronic headache gone after 10 year - would come and go over this time
  • Back pain healed after 20 years
  • Tumour gone
  • Eyesight restored - couldn't read
  • Child with no genitals delivered from a demon - genitals restored
  • Anemia
  • Hearing
  • Extended period bleeding - when healed had been bleeding for three weeks
  • Man healed from mental insanity
  • Chest problem - after I told her to laugh at her sickness she felt something happen. After she had gone home found that she was healed.
  • A person had no money to pay the rent and was being chased out of the house. After telling people to laugh at their problems she went home and God had provided the money to pay the rent
